Message to Colleagues and Friends of Dance Curriculum Designs,
This is to let you know that the team from Dance Curriculum Designs is keeping things going from their home offices while I search for a place to relocate my home and our company. Our temporary address is now 545 North Glassy Mountain Road, Landrum, SC 29356. AT&T accidentally moved our phone service to the wrong location, so our phone at 803-754-7384 was interrupted for a while until we discovered the error and got it fixed. Dance Curriculum Designs apologizes for any inconvenience this caused our customers. Should you need to contact us while we are in transition, please dial 803-754-7384 or email both brenda@dancecurriculumdesigns.com and cyndiDCD@outlook.com. We look forward to serving you and to staying in touch.
Reminder: All purchase orders from schools and school districts require submitting two forms together–
- the completed form–Dance Curriculum Designs’ Purchase Order Form— which contains specificity needed to complete your order and the shipping rates to add to get the total amount due for the order. Find this form at the DCD website button named “Purchase Orders.” Send it together with the
- the school/district’s official PO.
Both must match–the same products and the correct total.
DCD was unable to attend NDEO last year as planned to see many of you and to tell you about the upcoming teacher resources that are in the works for the upcoming school year. All of our resources are designed for real dance education classroom settings but adapt well to virtual dance classrooms.
At the moment, two of my colleagues–Dr. Tina Curran (UT-Austin) and Professor Sybil Huskey (UNC-Charlotte)–are planning to teach a virtual course with me that utilizes DCD dance education resources as part of an advanced level intensive educational dance institute for a cohort of selected SC dance specialists. This holistic dance education institute is a second-level graduate course in “The Dance Teacher as Artist” series. This year’s institute, which begins June 7th, will be taught virtually by the three of us. So we are enjoying planning for this immersion course entitled, Choreographic Analysis and Critique. Our use of the four-step critiquing process enables us to explore repertory from around the world through an informed lens. The advanced course includes comparative analysis of works that share a common denominator such as the same motivating subject matter, works by the same choreographer, works inspired by the same music, etc. In addition, this course builds a global context from which to view dances of the world to see how they relate to the universal reasons mankind has danced since the dawn of mankind. We have an engaging line-up of works and an engaged cohort to share them with. The course increases understanding and skills for teaching both choreography and critique (creating and responding). Sure wish you could join us, too.
Until we see you, stay safe and take good care,
Brenda Pugh McCutchen, owner of Dance Curriculum Designs LLC
